Chapter 7, 87th Annual Sheffield Homecoming, July 29th 2006
At first, the crowd kept their distance. Except for one young girl (Who just happens to be Bruce's daughter). Her mother walked her to the stairway you see, but she walked onstage by herself. Al started singing "If You Love Me", but the little one was stealing the show.
It was very hot today, luckily we didn't start until 8, and the sun was just going down. By the end of the show, it had cooled down some. But, it was a slight some.
We ended up throwing in a bunch of songs that we hadn't originally planned on doing. The show went right around two and a half hours long.
This is the American Trilogy, we just got finished unrolling the flag, and everyone in the house was standing. We hit a few more dramatic notes, I hit the pyro button, and POW! The lights flash and another good show is in the history books. Right after we.......
I swear to God, there was a food vendor that was selling Deep Fried Twinkies for $2.50. I had to ask her about them. She smilied and said, "Oh yes, we sell a lot of them." I asked another food vendor about them and he told me that they take a regular twinkie, put it on a corn dog stick, dip it in batter, and deep fry it. Basically like having a corn dog, but with a twinkie in the middle instead. I wasn't brave enough to try one, maybe next year....
This was our Encore. We start off with "A Little Less Conversation" and end with "Blue Suede Shoes", during which we each take a little solo section. Dad's and Jason's solo's were good, Mine was alright, but when it got to Bruce, he just lit 'em up! He just exploded and started playing the hell out of that drumkit. It was great! I wish I had it on tape.
